Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
The Tatuaje Petite Cazadores Reserva is a small, affordable cigar in the ‘Brown’ line, wrapped in a dark, toothy Broadleaf, rather than the traditional Ecuadorian Habano. It is rustic little stick with a closed foot, but well-constructed and substantial in its own way. The first thing you think when you see it is “dark chocolate.” That impression holds when you light it, but it is dark, dark chocolate, almost bitter with very little sweetness, and a quick blast of spice. The flavor is surprisingly smooth throughout, with hints of dark fruit (sour cherry?) and a tiny touch of wood. The smoke is thick and white.I’ve been enjoying some smaller sticks lately: the little CAO Brazilia Cariocas, the Liga Papas Fritas. They give a satisfying experience without the time commitment. The Petite fits nicely in that company, although it lacks complexity.
